The Nation’s Only Virtual At-Home Detox Programs from Workit Health Expands

Workit Health Expands Digital Addiction Care into New Jersey, California, Washington and Alaska

Telemedicine addiction care program headquartered in Ann Arbor is seeing rapid growth for virtual programs with medication and therapy.

Date of Release: October 19, 2020

ANN ARBOR, Mich — Workit Health, the nation’s leading provider of virtual addiction care services, today announced its dedication to expand beyond its home state from Ann Arbor, Michigan into New Jersey, California, Washington and Alaska to serve populations struggling with substance use disorders during COVID-19. Workit Health’s virtual clinical services and FDA-approved medication for alcohol and opioid use disorders are now available in five states. The company also offers virtual behavioral health services nationwide.

“We are proud to serve each state with clinicians who care about the health and recovery of each patient,” said Lisa McLaughlin, Workit Health’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO. “Now, with the impact of COVID-19, we are able to serve clientele virtually from any location in the country.”

Workit Health now offers the nation’s only virtual at-home detox programs for alcohol. The program includes daily video check-ins with a medical care team and prescribed medication to safely detox at home. Alcohol sales have increased 50% since the COVID-19 pandemic, with loneliness, lack of regular routine, anxiety, and loss of financial support all triggers for relapse.

More than 40 states have reported increases in opioid and other drug overdoses and a rise in concern for people with substance use and other mental health disorders, according to the American Medical Association. Workit Health’s medically-assisted program for opioid use disorder is now completely virtual, connecting patients with licensed clinicians and counselors through the Workit Health app.

Based in Ann Arbor, Workit Health recently received Ann Arbor SPARK’s FastTrack award for consistently high growth. The award is designed to recognize companies that are advancing the economy in the state as well as building innovation in its own business model.

One of the company’s initiatives that has led to success is the opioid use disorder program which partners with local hospitals, health plans and county health organizations to ensure immediate access to evidence-based care and medication for those who need it most.

“As a resident of Ann Arbor and person in long-term recovery myself, this company’s mission has always been to provide Michiganders – and now people in need across the country — access to expert addiction support with no judgment,” said McLaughlin. “As a result of this philosophy, we’ve seen a 90% increase in demand for our programs since the start of the pandemic. We’re talking with people who may have relapsed or lost control of their drinking at home but are scared to receive in-person care – but now, they have access to it virtually.”
