Our body’s immune system creates surprising effects on mental health, which people need to understand. Until now, medicine has been left in the lurch of the 50s and 60s for medications that treat mental disorders. In fact, one treatment (Thorazine) was a medication used before surgery to calm patients down, and this led to its use for years for psychotic disorders.

In fact, many older medications for mental health treatments have resulted in distressing side effects. They may require other medications to address them, such as tardive dyskinesia or dystonias.

I have seen psychiatric patients given medications that caused them to be unable to move their heads off their shoulders or have difficulties with walking, breathing, unstoppable hand tremors, or even raising their arms to perform some activity. It was extremely distressing to see, and the patients were terrified because no one had told them this might happen. Also, no one mentioned the fact that there might be some neurological problems going on that would only be covered behaviorally by additional medications. The potential disruption might not be stopped, but hidden.

An example of what we’re seeing now is illustrated by a woman whose joint inflammation always appeared right before her worst emotional state. When her body experienced joint pain and swelling, her mental state would severely deteriorate. She had believed this reaction occurred naturally because of her pain experience throughout many years.

But a new day in medicine is coming. Scientists have discovered complex and promising processes occurring beneath the surface as they conduct their recent research. Some discoveries, as so often happens, have been found not by looking for mental health issues, but something else.

The Invisible Fire Within

Everyone understands inflammation to be the response that occurs during ankle twists and cuts. Our bodies respond to healing by showing redness and swelling, which we easily detect during the recovery process. But the human body contains a less apparent form of inflammation that maintains a chronic low-grade condition throughout months and years without producing noticeable symptoms. What is this mysterious condition, and how can we ameliorate it?

The body’s concealed inflammation plays a leading role in mental health conditions, starting from depression and anxiety, and reaching cognitive decline, according to recent scientific research. Alzheimer’s researchers have theorized that inflammation may play a role in this severe disorder. Medical researchers have now found that ongoing inflammation interferes with mental processes by modifying brain operations and emotional responses. A reason and a treatment may have lain waiting for many decades.

Breaking Down the Blood-Brain Barrier

Here, we have to consider the brain’s most vital protection — the blood-brain barrier (BBB) that prevents both illness and medication from entering. Medical students have learned over the last several decades that the brain functions as an “immune-privileged fortress,” protected by the blood-brain barrier that blocks inflammatory processes from reaching it. The protective wall shields essential nutrients while blocking unwanted, harmful substances from entering.

The BBB may even deny medications that are beneficial to enter, which has led to slow advances in treatment for many illnesses. Unfortunately, some substances like alcohol, result in a way around the BBB. ETOH affects the brain through vitamin deficiency, particularly of vitamin B1. This is probably how such distressing disorders as Wernicke’s psychosis may occur. Eventually, it’s inflammation that appears to play a significant role in much of physical and mental health.

Research findings demonstrate that extended periods of inflammation can create permeability in the blood-brain barrier. During periods of persistent stress and inflammation, the brain’s protective wall becomes compromised, which enables inflammatory substances to cross into brain tissue. When inflammatory signals enter the brain, they disrupt the manufacturing process of essential neurotransmitters, which include serotonin and dopamine, while antidepressants attempt to manage these chemicals.

Caroline Ménard examined stressed mice at Laval University and discovered that their blood-brain barrier exhibited extensive damage that differed from that of healthy controls. Research has discovered depression-related damage in post-mortem brain samples similar to the findings in stressed mice studies. Can mouse studies really tell us about human mental health? Most probably, it is a promising effort and may reveal important aspects of human mental health.

The Gut-Brain Highway

Your gut serves as the starting point for the mental health connection that stems from inflammation. The digestive tract holds 70% of your immune system and creates many brain neurotransmitters. It seems impossible that something we give so little thought to is so important.

When the gut microbiome loses equilibrium because of diet issues, antibiotics, or stress, harmful bacteria produce toxins that damage the gut lining. This, then, begins a chain reaction where the gut lining damage enables inflammatory substances to enter your bloodstream, where they could trigger inflammation throughout your entire body, which affects your brain. But if we know this, then we have information that can be useful in maintaining our mental and physical health.

The brain receives signals about mood changes in gut inflammation, according to Harvard Medical School research, and digestive symptoms from anxiety and depression also activate these signals. The connection between chronic digestive disorders and anxiety and depression risk stands at three times higher than the population average, according to research.

The Science Behind the Connection

Research-based evidence supports the link between inflammation and mental health, even though it was once theoretical. An analysis of 1.5 million participants discovered that patients with inflammatory diseases such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease had double the chance of developing anxiety and depression.

The findings become more significant because the enhanced risk factors appeared in different inflammatory disease conditions. Mental health problems develop directly from inflammation rather than from being sick with an illness. Additionally, we know that diseases such as cancer can affect depression. But it may not be that people know they have cancer, but that cancer causes biological depression just as it causes changes in taste perception.

Genetic research has established evidence that exceeds mere association because it shows a clear cause-and-effect relationship. One study linked higher specific biochemical levels to depressive symptoms, mood alterations, appetite changes, sleep disturbances, fatigue, and symptoms of irritability. Their advanced genetic analysis showed that these associations result from genuine causal relationships instead of random chance.

When Stress Becomes Inflammation

The process through which psychological stress produces physical inflammation remains unclear. A major study was published that explains this process thoroughly.

Scientists conducted laboratory stress tests on healthy participants. They observed specific activation in 17 of 19 volunteers while their catecholamines and cortisol levels increased immediately after stress exposure before returning to normal levels in 60 minutes. This factor functions as a cellular switch that activates inflammatory processes.

According to the study, noradrenaline (norepinephrine) acts as a primary stress hormone that triggers inflammatory mechanisms in immune cells. The biological process transforms psychological distress into inflammatory cell responses, which occur in just minutes.

The Vicious Cycle

After inflammation enters the brain system, it generates an endless cycle of inflammation. The brain contains microglia, which act as immune cells that receive activation signals from inflammatory signals. The protective housekeeping function of these cells transforms into destructive behavior when exposed to prolonged inflammation, which leads them to produce more inflammatory substances.

The research term “inflammatory soup” describes how the mixture of inflammatory factors damages brain cells while making it harder for the brain to remove proteins, which contribute to mental decline. The described mechanism reveals why long-term inflammation elevates the chances of developing depression and dementia.

Practical Steps to Cool the Flames

Evidence-based methods exist to combat chronic inflammation and promote mental health support:

1. Embrace Anti-Inflammatory Foods

The Mediterranean diet stands as one of the most extensively studied dietary patterns for its anti-inflammatory effects. Focus on:

The diet should comprise abundant amounts of fruits and vegetables, which are rich in antioxidants, whole grains, legumes, and fatty fish like salmon and sardines that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Additionally, olive oil should be the primary fat source, and nuts and seeds should be included, with a minimal consumption of processed foods and red meat.

2. Feed Your Good Bacteria

Your gut microbiome acts as a central element in both inflammation processes and mood regulation. Beneficial bacteria need support through the following actions:

The diet should include fermented foods such as yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, and kimchi.

Use antibiotics only in situations where their use is absolutely required. You don’t want to kill the good bacteria along with the bad, and that’s what you’re doing here if you use antibiotics casually. You should consult your healthcare provider before taking any probiotic supplement because you need a high-quality product.

3. Move Your Body Regularly

How often have we read that exercise is one of the most important ways to manage both stress and mental health issues? But how many health care professionals indicate exercise in their treatment plans? Who gets a prescription to join a gym for exercise, and if they did, how much better would they be?

Regular moderate exercise stands as the most potent anti-inflammatory intervention available, even though intense exercise temporarily causes inflammation. Physical exercise reduces persistent inflammation, according to research, and being inactive is associated with persistent systemic inflammation.

The recommended weekly amount can be achieved through activities including brisk walking, swimming, cycling, dancing, yoga, or tai chi.

4. Prioritize Sleep Quality

The process of inflammation exists both as a cause and an effect of insufficient sleep. You should create a sleep-conducive environment through these steps:

The bedroom environment should be kept cool in temperature, dark, and quiet. A regular evening schedule should be followed as part of your bedtime routine.

You should refrain from using screens for an hour before bedtime.
Caffeine consumption should be limited to the time before 2 PM.

5. Manage Stress Effectively

Stress management techniques need development because psychological stress directly causes inflammation, according to research.
Daily mindfulness meditation practice of just 10 minutes will help decrease inflammatory markers.

When experiencing stress, use the 4–2–6 deep breathing method, which involves breathing in for four counts, then holding for two before exhaling for six counts.

Social support serves as a strong protective measure that reduces inflammation caused by stress.

Happiness stands as a vital factor that helps decrease stress levels, according to research.

6. Consider Professional Help

Seek advice from your healthcare provider regarding potential inflammation involvement in your symptoms when you experience ongoing mood issues, particularly with inflammatory conditions.
The discussion should include whether inflammation contributes to your symptoms.

The Future of Mental Health Treatment

The modern era brings opportunities for highly customized treatments in mental health care. Research shows that depression has inflammation as its main cause in approximately 1 out of 4 patients according to recent studies.

The scientific community is currently developing three new treatments for these patients:

• Anti-inflammatory medications traditionally used for arthritis
The semaglutide GLP-1 drug shows anti-inflammatory properties among its therapeutic benefits
• Targeted therapies based on individual inflammatory profiles
• Personalized nutrition and lifestyle interventions

A New Understanding of Mental Health

The scientific breakthrough in studying inflammation and mental health functions as a transformative method for understanding depression and anxiety. A combination of biological origins from lifestyle changes and medical interventions points to more effective treatment of these psychological conditions.

Therapy and social support, along with traditional methods, remain essential. The identification of inflammation through diet, exercise, stress management, and sometimes medication becomes necessary for many patients who seek recovery.

Moving Forward

The recommended lifestyle modifications work for everyone, so you can start with these first. But don’t hesitate to seek professional help if you’re struggling. A healthcare provider who understands the inflammation-mental health connection can help determine if this perspective might be useful in your specific situation.

Understanding the biological elements of mental health does not decrease their complexity but provides additional methods to enhance one’s well-being. Mental health development results from multiple biological factors that combine with psychological elements and social interactions. Managing inflammation represents an essential step in solving one part of the complex puzzle.

Most of my career has been spent treating disease—tumors, mostly one patient at a time.

However, it was only recently that I began targeting something deeper.

Something upstream.

Something ancient.

Inflammation.

Not the helpful kind you get after a cut or cold. That kind heals.

I’m talking about chronic inflammation — the kind that lingers quietly, damaging your blood vessels, brain, joints, and organs like a slow, internal wildfire.

Over time, I’ve come to believe that chronic inflammation is the common thread behind most chronic diseases. The evidence keeps stacking up.

The Number That Predicts How Fast You’re Aging

Most doctors ignore it. I don’t.

medium.com

The Hidden Fire Behind Disease

Dementia? Check.

Type 2 diabetes? Check.

Heart attacks. Strokes. Obesity. Cancer?

Check, check, check.

We call these conditions separate diagnoses.

But I’ve come to see them as symptoms of a deeper cause: the body’s immune system stuck in the “on” position.

Scientists have even coined a term: inflammaging — the chronic, low-grade inflammation that accelerates aging and shortens lifespan.

That realization changed the way I live.

Chronic inflammation fuels aging and disease — but cooling the fire may change your future.

6 Ways I’m Extinguishing the Fire

I don’t believe in silver bullets. But I do believe in stacking small daily wins. Here’s how I’m pushing back against chronic inflammation:

1. Sleep Like It’s Medicine

Sleep isn’t optional. It’s therapeutic.
Insufficient sleep increases inflammatory markers, such as C-reactive protein. But quality sleep can lower them, especially when it becomes a consistent, protected ritual.

I now aim for 7.5–8 hours per night, without apology. I treat it like an appointment; I don’t cancel.

2. Move Daily, Not Occasionally

Exercise cools inflammation, especially the aerobic kind.
Walking. Cycling. Swimming. Even light strength training. They all lower pro-inflammatory cytokines and boost your cellular resilience.
And yes, I consider walking to be medicine.

3. Eat Food That Fights for You

I’ve shifted toward a Mediterranean-style diet, which includes olive oil, vegetables, nuts, berries, and fatty fish.
I’ve also added turmeric, green tea, and fiber-rich legumes.
These foods don’t just fuel me. They protect me from the inside out.

4. Avoid the Fire-Starters

Two habits pour gasoline on inflammation:

Smoking

Excess alcohol

I’ve never smoked. But I do drink on occasion — and now I limit that to one glass a week, if that. Most of the time, sparkling water does the trick just fine.

5. Stay Lean for the Right Reason

Weight isn’t just cosmetic — it’s biochemical.

Visceral fat (the kind that wraps around your organs) fuels inflammation and increases risk for cancer, dementia, and heart disease.

I stay lean, not for a mirror, but for my mitochondria.

6. Take Oral Health Seriously

Inflamed gums = inflamed body.

I didn’t always take flossing seriously. But the link between periodontal disease and heart disease — even cognitive decline — is real.

Now I treat my toothbrush like a prescription.

Aging may be inevitable — but these six daily habits can help slow it down from the inside out.

We Can’t Stop Time — But We Can Stop the Fire

Aging is inevitable.

But how do we age?

That’s far more flexible than most people realize.

If you want more energy, sharper cognition, and a lower risk of disease, start by cooling the flame of inflammation.

It’s not glamorous. But it works.

Final Thoughts

I used to think aging was just a number. Now I think it’s a pattern.

A pattern of how we sleep. How do we move? How do we eat?

And how we treat the quiet signals our body sends us — before they become sirens.

That quote haunted me for years, long before I ever held a linear accelerator’s joystick or delivered radiation to a tumor curled around someone’s spine.

Back then, I didn’t fully grasp its relevance to my work.

Now, after decades in oncology, I see it with stark clarity.

Because here’s the truth:

Up to 42% of cancers are preventable — not through miracle drugs or genetic luck, but through modifiable, everyday choices.

This observation isn’t about blame.

It’s about power.

And it’s time we stopped whispering about it.

Even through the fog of risk, we can walk toward healing. 42% of cancers are preventable, and every step counts.

Even through the fog of risk, we can walk toward healing. 42% of cancers are preventable, and every step counts.

🔁 Why Cancer Isn’t Just Bad Luck: The Myth of Randomness

When patients hear “cancer,” the next question is often whispered:

Did I cause this?

It’s a painful, complicated moment.

I always remind them: no one deserves this, and no one gets cancer from one bad meal or missed screening.

But I also tell them we know that cancer is not a lightning strike.

Yes, some cancers come from sheer genetic chaos.

But others arise from a slow, silent drift, shaped by inflammation, environment, and habit.

🔁 Inflammation and Obesity: The Hidden Cancer Risks

You don’t see inflammation in the mirror. But it shapes your fate.

Low-grade, chronic inflammation — often fueled by excess fat, poor diet, poor sleep, and stress — is a known contributor to several cancers, including colorectal, breast, and liver.

We once thought of obesity as a cosmetic issue. Now we understand it as a biological amplifier of cancer risk:

Fat cells release cytokines and estrogen-like compounds

These can trigger DNA damage and tumor-promoting environments

I’m not judging anyone’s weight. I’m inviting a deeper understanding of how the body works — and how we can gently steer it.

Diseases desperate grown,
By desperate appliance are relieved,
Or not at all.”
— Shakespeare, Hamlet.

Sometimes, small daily shifts are our most potent medicine.

We often fear what we can’t see — but the fog of inflammation lifts with every step toward healing.

🔁 How Alcohol, Smoking & Diet Tip the Scales

If you asked me what four lifestyle changes would make the biggest impact on global cancer rates, I’d say this:

Stop smoking

Drink less alcohol

Eat more plants and fewer processed foods

Move

🥃 Alcohol

Alcohol is a group 1 carcinogen, the same class as tobacco and asbestos.³

It increases the risk for at least seven cancers, including breast and colorectal.

And even “moderate” drinking has risks, especially for those with other risk factors.

🍽️ Diet

Ultra-processed foods cause inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and now, higher cancer risk.

A 2023 study in The Lancet tied them to a 29% increased risk of colorectal cancer.⁴

It’s not about moral purity. It’s about stacking the odds in your favor.

Prevention Isn’t Perfection. It’s Daily Poetry.

When I talk to patients, I don’t hand them guilt. I hand them a possibility.

A walk after dinner to quiet insulin spikes

A decision to swap soda for tea

A full night of sleep instead of doomscrolling

These things may seem small, but they are acts of devotion, not just to the body, but to the life it still wants.

Though this be madness, yet there is method in’t.”
— Hamlet.

Health is not about perfection. It’s about rhythm.

About small, quiet methods repeated until they shape destiny.

Prevention isn’t a grand gesture — it’s small acts repeated with care, devotion, and consistency.

The Truth I Wish More People Knew

When people find out I’m a cancer doctor, they usually ask about treatments.

But the conversation I wish we had more often is this:

What can I do now, before the diagnosis, to change the story?

The answer isn’t sexy. It’s not a pill or a breakthrough headline.

It’s this:

Cancer isn’t always random. And your choices — however small — are not meaningless.

You deserve to know that.

A Gentle Invitation

I don’t write this to scare you.

I write it because knowledge is power, and silence is not protection.

Here’s the truth:

Cancer is common.

Up to 42% is preventable.

That prevention is made of ordinary acts repeated with quiet courage.

Personal Interest

Recently, my doctor recommended adding red light therapy to stimulate cellular energy production and grow new stem cells injected into my lower spine. Since I have documented the spinal stem cell procedure in a previous story, this article aims to educate readers on the benefits of red light therapy for various health and wellness purposes. I will also share the results of my journey with red light therapy related to the stem cell procedure.

First, what is inflammation? Let’s examine the types, causes, symptoms, and treatments. We will also review how red light therapy promotes balance, optimizes cellular function, and supports your body’s response to inflammation and pain.

What is Inflammation?

Inflammation may come into your field of awareness if your body becomes red, hot, swollen, or painful in response to an injury or an infection. Inflammation isn’t just a symptom; it’s a complex process in every living thing. Think of inflammation as your body’s programmed response to danger. It’s one of your immune system’s first actions against germs, irritation, and cell damage. However, according to Harvard Health Publishing,

if inflammation becomes a chronic problem, it can also be a route to disease and wider dysfunction in the body. [1]

Author wearing glasses trying red light therapy | Image courtesy of Lisa Bradburn

What Causes inflammation?

Inflammation can be caused by almost anything that puts the body under stress. There are clear physical causes of inflammation like injuries & wounds, bruises, burns, splinters — and even stem cell procedures. Harvard Health Publishing states:

Inflammation also occurs due to biological factors like infection from germs and stress. Chemical irritants, toxins, and alcohol can also trigger inflammation. [1]

Furthermore, Medical News Today reports:

Our bodies can become inflamed in response to environmental stressors — like inadequate sleep, poor nutrition, dehydration, and exposure to toxins. [2]

Over time, these environmental factors can play a role in developing chronic inflammation with more serious long-term health implications.

Signs and Symptoms of Inflammation

There are five classic signs of inflammation:

heat

redness

swelling

pain

loss of function

Chemicals like bradykinin, a peptide that promotes inflammation and histamine, cause pain that your body releases to stimulate your nerve endings as a warning of danger, according to the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care. [3]

An abundance of clinical evidence, such as findings reported in the BMC Medical Journal, shows how:

Inflammation can cause depression, and vice-versa; depression can cause inflammation. [4].

This is big news for mental health practitioners, who should consider the whole client — mind, body, and spirit- instead of the narrow view of brain function.

Stand naked between the panels | Image courtesy of Lisa Bradburn

Acute or Chronic Inflammation?

We know not all inflammation is harmful to your health. Acute inflammation can help our body recover from a specific problem. In a normal response to stress or injury, inflammation sets in within a few hours and works to clear the damaged tissue and start the repair process. Once again, Harvard Health Publishing tells us:

Once the injury or strain is healed, the inflammation fades away. [1]

However, the same report states chronic inflammation is often caused by:

frequent acute inflammation, as well as viral infections, autoimmune reactions, recurrent tissue damage, and foreign bodies that aren’t removed. [1]

The Evolution of Inflammatory Diseases suggests chronic inflammation can be quite painful and lead to other conditions like:

Arthritis, lackluster skin, poor gut health, and even increased risk for some cancers. [5]

We know chronic inflammation is common in Western society and may be the underlying cause of other diseases, such as:

stroke

heart disorders

diabetes

cancers

In the medical paper Chronic Inflammation, I was surprised to learn how over half of all human deaths are attributed to inflammation. [6]

Current Inflammation Treatments, Risks, & Side Effects

Inflammation is often treated with NSAIDs or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. These include supposed lower-risk, over-the-counter varieties like aspirin and ibuprofen that can treat symptoms of acute pain.

When serious chronic inflammation arises, patients often take prescription NSAIDs. However, according to several publications on the topic, these medications have shown numerous risks for people over age 60 and kidney risks for the general population. [7,8,9]

In general, established inflammation treatments only address the symptoms of inflammation, like pain and swelling, not the root causes, like cellular function, tissue repair, and biological imbalance.

Given the limitations of existing treatments, it’s of no surprise people look beyond NSAIDs and pharmaceuticals for solutions to chronic inflammation and pain. Lifestyle factors (diet, exercise, sleep quality) play a significant role in keeping the body balanced so acute inflammation doesn’t become chronic.

There is a reason humans are encouraged to soak up the morning sun. Healthy light exposure is also essential for cells to repair, regenerate, and make energy efficient. Next, let’s examine how light, specifically red light therapy treatments, helps to support the cellular response to inflammation and pain.

Red Light Therapy For Pain Relief and Inflammation Management

Red light therapy treatments are a perfect way to support a healthy lifestyle by enhancing cellular function. Like exercise, nutritious eating, restful sleep, and beneficial light exposure, it helps manage inflammation and pain.

10 Minutes is all one requires | Image courtesy of Lisa Bradburn

What is Red Light Therapy?

The manufacturer of the red light panels, JOOVV, describes red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM) or low-level laser therapy (LLLT), as:

A simple, non-invasive treatment that delivers wavelengths of red and near-infrared (NIR) light to the skin and cells. The term “red light therapy” refers to treatments from light-emitting diodes (LEDs) that deliver specific wavelengths of red and NIR light to the skin and cells.

Red Light Therapy and Inflammation

According to the medical paper, Low-level Laser (Light) Therapy Increases Mitochondrial Membrane Potential:

light therapy treatments help supply the mitochondria in your cells with the light needed to make the ATP energy that powers your body. [10]

Red light therapy allows a person to supplement the sunlight they get from their environment with concentrated wavelengths of red and NIR light.

What Science Says

Dr. Hamblin from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, is one of the world’s leading photomedicine researchers and believes light therapy produces an “overall reduction in inflammation.” [11]

Check out this paper by Dr. Michael Hamblin of Harvard Medical School

To summarize the paper, Dr. Hamblin shares how:

red and near-infrared light acts as a mild form of stress that activates protective mechanisms in cells. When red light hits the skin and penetrates into cells, mitochondria are nudged to make energy more efficient. This boosts the production of healing anti-inflammatories and antioxidants that speed up healing. [11]

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?

Several medical journals report how red and NIR light helps balance the body’s inflammatory effects by boosting cellular energy and reducing oxidative stress. Wavelengths of red and NIR light have been shown to stimulate the mitochondria, the cell’s powerhouse. They can optimize the cellular respiration process that makes ATP (adenosine triphosphate) energy, which increases function, speeds healing, and can reduce inflammation & discomfort, as demonstrated in numerous peer-reviewed studies. [12,13,14,15,16]

The research paper Individual Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs and Risk of Acute Kidney Injury speaks to how:

Red light therapy also supports arthritis and joint pain relief by improving blood flow to damaged tissues. [8]

To conclude, when cells receive the healthy light they need, the whole body has the potential to work more efficiently, with improved circulation and reduced inflammation.

My Experience With Red Light Therapy

When I stand between two warm red lite panels, I’m intrigued by what activity must occur at the cellular level, particularly the possibility of stem cells adhering to and regrowing the bottom three vertebrae of my spine.

Given the intensity of the wavelengths of red and NIR light, I cannot stand between the panels for more than 10 minutes; otherwise, my body limits how much light can be absorbed through the skin. Exceeding ten minutes is a waste of time, and I appreciate the quick in-and-out experience of the protocol.

As I’m standing in between the panels, I have observed the following:

Parts of my skin appear translucent; I can see the veins in my legs

I feel the tiny hairs on my body “stand up” and tingle

My body feels warm and good, nurtured

I experience calm and, later, a gentle fatigue

Within an hour of experiencing red light therapy, my lower back feels low-level discomfort; however, according to the stem cell doctor, this is a normal part of the process.

Now, as I move into the second month of recovery from the stem cell procedure, it is too early to tell if the stem cells are maturing until I receive an MRI in March 2024 to see physical developmental changes. Red light therapy is a critical success factor in ensuring a positive outcome from the stem cell procedure.

Thank you to Vortex Wellness Studio in Collingwood, Ontario, for supporting me with your wonderful red light therapy circuit during my stem cell recovery process.
